The Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area, shortened to BLORA, is getting ready to kick off the start of summer with the return of Water Fest, the lake’s official invitation to citizens in the area to cool off during this annual two-day event.

With a six-dollar entrance fee per vehicle, families can enjoy a refreshing, fun-filled weekend on June 3 and June 4. Doors will open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Activities include a Sierra Beach Water Wars, which is a balloon sling shot shoot-out styled event, as well as a kayak pool, inflatables, a bass fishing demo, water slides, a kids wash, gator slip-n-slide and a drowned rat race.

Several dry activities will be available as well, such as mountain biking and various hiking trails throughout the area, along with a petting zoo and pony rides for children. The parks’ concession stands will also be open to provide food and drink to families during the day.

BLORA offers over 300 family picnic sites and nearly 150 covered picnic shelters, with dozens of barbecue grills throughout the park. For those interested in attending, coordinators at BLORA suggest to bring items like sunscreen, towels, blankets and coolers. There will be security patrolling the grounds, as well as lifeguards at the lake area, the waterslides and other water-related activities. A lost and found area will also be available.

BLORA offers an array of services outside of Water Fest. Such services include one and two- bedroom cottage rentals, which is available for a night, weekend or longer stay any time of the year. Cottages are equipped with kitchen utensils, towels and linens and come furnished with a screened in porch, grill, covered picnic table and bench swing. Mobile homes are available to rent as well. BLORA also offers tent camping, mountain bike trails, horseback riding trails, a climbing wall, an archery range and a paintball course.
