Have you ever picked up a drink, tasted it, and just about choked on it because it tasted so bad? Have you ever then picked up that same drink, stirred up the contents that had settled at the bottom of the container and by doing so transformed that drink into something wonderful and desirable? Friend, this is the year, this is the time, this is the place for your transformation. The time is now to put aside the excuses, the rationalizations, the fear, the limitations and the distraction to stir up the amazing talents that reside within you.

Yes, you. It matters little your height, your weight, your skin color or marital status. It doesn’t matter how old or young, how much formal education you may or may not have, what matters is that you embrace this simple truth; you are wonderfully made by an amazing God. You are a masterpiece and amongst the 7 billion people currently on earth, all those who have long since departed this earth and all who are yet to be born, there has never been and never will be another person exactly like you. YOU ARE EXTRAORDINARY!

Take a moment to ponder that. If you are like most people, your first instinct will be to reject the truth of your extraordinariness. But, remember the wisdom of Bobbe Sommer, “Having a low opinion of yourself is not “modesty”. It’s self-destruction. Holding your uniqueness in high regard is not “egotism”. It’s a necessary precondition to happiness and success.” Are you ready to stop living a life of mediocrity? Are you tired of merely existing and experiencing only fleeting moments of the pure joy and exhilaration that comes from being all you can be? Have you wearied sufficiently of waiting for someone else to give you permission to be what God always designed you to be? It’s time to stir up and live it the extraordinary you. But what does it mean to be extraordinary? Do you have to sing like Whitney Houston, be a genius like Albert Einstein, run like Usain Bolt, look like Sophia Loren or make money like Warren Buffet? No.

To be extraordinary simply requires that all times you do the best you, with what you have, where you are. This means that no two days ever look quite the same for you, for each day will bring its own set of unique opportunities and challenges. Your goal is not to compare yourself to others, but to commit to giving every day the best there is in you. Choose to embrace living out your extraordinariness each day. If you are baking a cake, give it the best you have in that moment. If you are writing a business proposal, give it all you have in that time. If you are cleaning your home, do it to the best of your ability. In your relationships, give your best.

What if no one else is giving their all? Your decision to be the best you are should never be compromised by the actions or words of others. This is your life. Live it boldly, fully, and make every moment count. Listen, when has it ever profited you to play small, to constantly doubt yourself, to relinquish your talent and potential?

Are you ready to be extraordinary each day? Make the decision. Follow through on your commitment to yourself. If you have a momentary lapse, don’t quit, get right back to it. To get you going, find an accountability partner of coach to keep you on task. Surround yourself with other people who are actively striving to be extraordinary as well. The company you keep will either advance or hinder you. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Take your first step today and stir up the extraordinary in you.
