Sale of reflective address signs aimed to save lives

Central Bell County Fire and Rescue (CBCFR) in Nolanville recently decided to sell reflective address signs in an effort to shorten response times by solving a problem that many first responders face; poorly marked houses or houses that are not marked at all.

“This isn’t just an issue for our district. First Responders nationwide have trouble locating addresses, especially in county areas, so we will ship these nationwide,” said Chief Jason Worsdale, CBCFR.

The reflective address signs come in a choice of red, green, or blue; are 18” x 6” with 3” or 4” letters and pre drilled mounting holes to allow it to be mounted vertical or horizontal.

“I ordered these three colors because the colors fall in line with how the county indicates a private, city, or county street,” said Chief Worsdale.

The homeowner is not required to follow the color codes set forth by the county and may choose which ever color they like best, however the option to follow county guidelines is available to them.

The majority of county roads in CBCFR’s district do not have address signs, or are hard to read which creates a serious issue for first responders and can mean life or death for some individuals.

“The difference of five seconds can save someone’s life and if we have trouble finding a house it can essentially mean the difference between life and death for that individual,” said Austin Burlison, Probationary Firefighter, CBCFR.

The price for a reflective address sign is $20 plus $5 shipping if you are out of the area or are unable to pick up the sign from the station.  CBCFR plans to sell the reflective address signs indefinitely.

“This will be a continuous thing. We will have them available for an indefinite amount of time. Those wishing to order a sign can stop in or visit us online. We accept cash, check, or money order,” said Chief Worsdale.

If you would like to purchase a reflective address sign, visit the fire station during normal business hours. The station is located at 100 North Main Street in Nolanville. You may also visit them online at cbcfr.org, on Facebook at fb.com/cbcfr, or call the station for more information 254-698-6891.
