Many times people interested in starting a garden or a farm are at a loss as to where to start. Identifying what is currently growing is a good predictor of what will grow and how much work it will take to make a plot productive. This class is supported by a Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Grant through the USDA. It is geared towards transitioning soldiers but all are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring plants to the class to be identified, make sure they have either flowers or fruit if possible.
This adventure will be led by Justin Duncan, Justin is a Sustainable Agricultural Specialist with the National Center for Appropriate Technology, San Antonio, Texas. Justin has a BS in Agronomy from Prairie View A&M University, an 1890 Land Grant Institution, and an MS in Plant Breeding from Texas A&M University.
This adventure is part of the GO Heights program which encourages people to Get Outdoors by attending our once a month outdoor recreation adventures happening the third Thursday of the month. Join our meetup site at www.meetup.com/GO-Heights to see the adventures offered or to RSVP. Times, location, and price vary by activity.
