The city’s first Wheelchair Basketball Day was held Sunday at the Rec Center, with about 55 participants. “The biggest value was that we have identified six wheelchair-bound athletes that live in our community who will now have a place to play wheelchair basketball weekly,” said Joe Brown, athletic coordinator with the Harker Heights Parks and Rec.” Another similar event is scheduled toward the end of July. Mama's Café sponsored the food as well as Subway.
