Fire • Fire Department new employee Dana Allison will be starting his Field Training on June 15. • The Command Van was in Hamilton June 1st thru the 5th to train the Texas Parks and Wildlife recruits. Public Works • The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has renewed the Wastewater Plant discharge permit through May 2014. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is permitted for 3.0 million gallons per day (MGD) treatment capacity. Currently, the annual average flow at the treatment plant is 1.61 MGD or 54% of the permitted plant design. When a treatment plant is processing 90% of it permitted plant design. When a treatment plant is processing 90% of it permitted flow, expansion of the plant is required (2.7 MGD for the Harker Heights plant). The City is actively “tightening up” the sanitary sewer collection system to prevent intrusion of storm water and ground water into the system, thereby extending the life of the current wastewater plant. Planning • Materials processed through the City’s recycling drop site from March 27 through May 27 included 19,480 pounds of paper/plastic/aluminum, 15,500 pounds of cardboard, and 12,620 pounds of metal. |
