AUSTIN – Col. Ralph C. Gauer Sr. of Harker Heights was recently reappointed to the Texas Military Preparedness Commission by Governor Rick Perry. Gauer is retired district director of Texas Senate District 24. He is Texas State president of the Association of the United States Army and a member of the association’s National Resolutions Committee.  

He is also past president of the Killeen-Heights Rotary Club and a member of the Fort Hood Retiree Council. Gauer Served in the U.S. Army, and received a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland.

Gov. Perry named Capt. Paul F. Paine of Fort Worth presiding officer of the commission for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. He also reappointed three other members to the commission for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2015.

The commission advises the governor and Legislature on defense-related issues, prepares an annual report for state leaders and helps base commanders prepare for the next round of base realignment evaluations.

Paine is president of Fort Worth South Inc. He is chairman of the Regional Coordination Committee and a member of the Aviation Heritage Association Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Fort Worth Rotary Club. Paine served in the U.S. Navy, and received a bachelor’s degree from Duesquesne University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Naval War College.

Dora G. Alcala of Del Rio is retired from the U.S. Air Force, and a management consultant, trainer, motivational speaker and owner of Alcala and Associates.

Maj. Gen. Alvin W. Jones of College Station is a retired Brazos County Judge. He is an ambassador for Texas representing the Chief of Army Reserves. Jones served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and the Meritorious Service Medal.
