The winners of the 51st Annual Parade of Homes for the Central Texas Home Builders Association were announced at the award ceremony and dinner at the CTHBA banquet hall in Harker Heights, Friday evening.

Six judges in the housing industry judge the Parade of Homes entries on four categories: best kitchen, bath, interior design, and craftsmanship for each price range. 25 real estate judges decide best exterior design and curb appeal.

“This year, we had a larger entry of mid to higher priced homes than we’ve previously had,” said Adam Parker, co-chairman for CTHBA.

The 12 home entries started from $180,000 and into the $400,000, throughout Belton, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, Killeen, and Nolanville.

“It’s great to see all the new and creative ideas that the home builders and designers have and to see what they can do for the home owners,” said Jeannette Robeck, office manager of Symphony Homes.

Stylecraft Builders Inc., won all five categories in the price range of $150,000-$225,000 for their home at 1405 Neff Drive, Copperas Cove.

For the price range of $225,000-$325,000, Centex Homes received best kitchen and interior design for 3206 Vineyard Trail, Harker Heights. Best bath, craftsmanship, and exterior design was presented to Carothers Homes for 1203 Pima Trail, Harker Heights.

Another multiple award recipient was Don Farek, for Cameo Homes, who has entered a house in every parade since 1964.  Farek received awards for best kitchen, interior design, and craftsmanship in the $325,000-$400,000 category for 1918 Fall Creek, Harker Heights.

“I appreciate it. We are just very proud of this home,” said Farek.

Completing the $325,000 – $400,000 category for best bath was A&G Homes at 6037 Bella Charca Parkway, Nolanville and newcomer, JT Haun of Dream Home Builders accepted the award for best exterior design and curb appeal for 4011 Lazy Brook, Nolanville.

“What I like about it is that it’s got the Tuscan look with big flower beds, and a lot of rock work,” said Haun.

The categories for $400,000-$450,000 were all awarded to Dustin Dewald of Dustin Dewald Custom Homes, with 1005 Niagara Heights, Belton winning best exterior design, kitchen, and interior design. Dewald’s house on 261 Skyline Drive, Copperas Cove won best bath and craftsmanship.

“One of the things that we take pride in is that we are very involved with the design side of the process, being mindful of energy efficiently, interior design, the attention to detail. Every project is a special project,” said Dewald.

The final Parade of Homes will take place from 1to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the 21st and Sunday, the 22nd. For more information and maps, visit http://cthbaparadeofhomes.com/
