At approximately 08:36 PM, (Tuesday night), September 5, 2017, Harker Height Police received a call of shots fired with injuries in the 400 block of North Amy Lane. Responding officers arrived and found a vehicle parked on the side of the road, an unconscious male with a gunshot wound was lying on the ground near the driver side door. A Harker Heights police officer started CPR on the victim identified as Jose Antonio Hernandez, 28, until EMS could arrive on scene and take over.
Investigation reveals that an altercation which started in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of East Veterans Memorial Boulevard ended in the 400 block of North Amy Lane with one male who suffered a critical gunshot wound. The individual was transported by EMS to Scott and White hospital in critical condition before passing away due to injuries.
The Harker Heights Police Criminal Investigation are continuing with the investigation.
