City Council Meeting
The City of Harker Heights will hold its next City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 28 in the Kitty Young Council Chambers located within the City Hall building at 305 Miller’s Crossing. Council Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Items may be placed on the City Council agenda by submitting a written request for placement with the Assistant City Manager no less than seven days prior to the scheduled Council meeting.

Train Whistle Jamboree
The Whistle Stop Jamboree is The City of Nolanville’s Annual Community Event, hosted by the Nolanville Economic Development Corporation. Train Whistle Jamboree date is set for Saturday, Septmember 17. Check the NEDC Website for updates.




Early bird GeekFest tickets on sale now
Advance tickets for GeekFest 2016 are now available. GeekFest – a celebration of all things geek – gaming programs and tournaments, anime, costume contests, science fiction, technology and fantasy – will be held August 12-14 on the campus of Central Texas College (CTC) in the Mayborn Science Theater and Anderson Campus Center. Early bird passes are on sale now through June 30. A limited number of VIP passes are available for $40 (save $10) and a three-day pass is $15 (save $5). Tickets are available online at www.starsatnight.org/geekfest. Proceeds benefit the CTC Foundation scholarship program.

City Hall Drive-thru Payment Window Temporarily Closed
The utility payment drive-thru window at Harker Heights City Hall will be closed temporarily beginning Wednesday, June 1, 2016. It is estimated to reopen on Monday, October 3, 2016. During the drive-thru closure utility payments can be made by going inside City Hall, by paying online, by paying through the mail, or by going to the drive-thru window at the Library/Activities Center located at 400 Indian Trail. The Library’s drive-thru window will only be for utility payments. Payments will only be taken from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Customers who need to set up water service, request a disconnection, or need any additional assistance with their water account will need to visit the Water Department at the Harker Heights City Hall at 305 Miller’s Crossing. These services will not be available at the Library/Activities Center. The Water Department can also be reached via e-mail atwaterbilling@ci.harker-heights.tx.us or by calling 254-953-5630.
Acceptable forms of payment will still be cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, or DiscoverCard. You will also still be able to make payments inside City Hall as well as at the Harker Heights First National Bank Texas locations at Market Heights, the Harker Heights HEB, and the Harker Heights Wal-Mart.
The Water Department also began taking automated phone payments by integrated voice response (IVR) system in January. Access this free service by calling 254-953-5630 and choosing option 1 or by calling the system directly at 844-284-6194. You will need your account number to access this system.
Payments can also be made athttps://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/harkerheightstx. A $2.00 convenience fee does apply when utilizing this service.

4th of July Celebration Parade: Applications Still Available
The Belton Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce “Traveling the USA” as the theme for this year’s 4th of July Parade. All are invited to participate in the 4th of July Parade on Monday, July 4th, 2016. The parade, sponsored by Coufal-Prater Equipment Co., will feature floats, bands, marching units, decorated vehicles, antique cars, decorated bicycles, and much more! Participants are encouraged to incorporate the parade theme, Traveling the USA, into their entry. Parade applications are available at beltonchamber.com\parade.
