October will not end quietly with the multitude of events taking place before and on Halloween in the city of Harker Heights. Such activities can allow friends and families to get together with other citizens in the community for festivities and fun.

Central Texas College is inviting citizens to get fit this Halloween by participating in their Trick or Trot 5K Fun Run on Saturday, October 28. Registration is $30 and all profits raised will benefit CTC’s Kinesiology scholarship fund. The race will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will take place in front of the Natatorium and Physical Education Center—and costumes are of course welcome. For more information about the 5K call 254 526 1231.

The annual CTC Haunted House and Fall Carnival will also be October 28 and 29 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets for the Haunted House, which will be located outside the Mayborn Science Theater—or building 152—are $5 per person. The event features a haunted house and many carnival games and activities for the entire family. Costs will vary for carnival games and food, located inside the Mayborn Science Theater. For more information call 254 526 1577.

According to a recent press release from the Parks and Recreation Department, it states that the Harker Heights Farmers Market season is coming to a close and the City of Harker Heights is ending with a Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Seton Medical Center Harker Heights from 8:00am-1:00pm. In addition to the Farmers Market vendors, kids will be able to trick or treat from the vendors, have fun in the bounce house, visit the fire fighters from the Harker Heights Fire Department, or Take 10 CPR and learn about Halloween safety and get your blood pressure checked from Seton Medical Center Harker Heights.

“This has been another great season. We enjoy Seton’s hospitality and the opportunity to provide these local products to the community. We cannot wait for next year.” Says Heather Buller, Activities Coordinator.

Then, later that same day, the Stewart C. Meyer Public Library in Harker Heights will be having a Halloween Cosplay Ball from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The library invites citizens to dress up in steampunk, anime, superhero or any other costume and join them for a night of dancing, food, games and more. For more information about the Cosplay Ball call 254 953 5491.

The City of Harker Heights will also hold their 12th Annual Halloween Hoopla on Tuesday, October 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Harker Heights Community Park, located at 1501 E F.M. 2410. “Join the City for some spooky fun.” Reads the City’s official website. “We will be hosting this fun-filled evening to provide the youth in the community with a fun, safe alternative to door-to-door Trick or Treating. Games, inflatables, candy, activities, organizations, businesses, and other forms of entertainment will be present. Photo areas will also be available so please bring a camera.” The website also states in the event of inclement weather to contact 254 953 5660.
