Habitat for Humanity to break ground on 71st build for local Killeen family

Special to the HHES

Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the Ramirez Family Ground Breaking on Saturday, April 8, 2017 starting at 10 a.m., located at 3204 Valencia Ave, Killeen, TX.  Ms. Anita Ramirez and her four children are so excited to move forward towards their new home.

Ms. Ramirez is originally from the San Antonio, TX area and came to Killeen to provide a better life for her and her 4 children. “I cried when they told me I am approved to be a Habitat family”, stated Nita. “I’m glad I was sitting down when they called, or I would have fallen over on the floor”.

Nita is no stranger to Habitat for Humanity. Her father, Ron Gregory, retired from Habitat for Humanity International, in Georgia. Nita had an opportunity to take a photo with President Jimmy Carter, while holding her oldest child and pregnant with her second. “It was great to meet, and get a picture with, one of the best volunteers Habitat has”, Nita expressed. I am still amazed, pinching myself to see if it’s really real”!

To all community members who provided monetary support, sponsorships, and partnerships we appreciate you!  United Way Greater Fort Hood Area, Cornerstone Baptist Church, First United Methodist-Killeen, Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, Realty Executives, PDI, Pamela & Bobby Thomas, Dagmar Riley, David Yonkey, Painting – With a Twist and many donors who want to remain anonymous; we want you to know, YOU are appreciated.
