CTC offers new classes for spring semester

Central Texas College (CTC) recently announced new additions to its spring semester curriculum including flexible class formats and new certificate programs. The new opportunities are available with the start of the spring 2017 semester which opens January 17.
The new offerings begin with the Office Technology department’s Blocked Blended Mondays Flexible Learning program. Students can complete 18 credit hours to earn an Office Technology Support Certificate of Completion in one semester. The blended format includes both classroom and online learning. Students can register for all six courses at once in the certificate program: Beginning Keyboarding, Computer Apps I, Business English, Records and Information Management, Business Math Using Technology and Administrative Office Procedures I. Classes are scheduled each Monday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Office Technology also offers eight-week blended courses from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each Saturday where students can earn credit toward an Office Technology Support Certificate of Completion. Classes are held on Saturday, January 23 – March 26, and March 27 – May 19.
Other new offerings by department include:
Business Administration and Paralegal department – eight-week real estate classes designed to help students complete the program faster; and self-paced business administration courses to provide flexibility for students.
Math department – online and blended engineering classes: Engineering
Mechanics-Dynamics (ENGR 2302) is blended; and Engineering Mechanics-Statics (ENGR 2301) is online.
Computer Information and Technology – earn a Certificate of Completion in cybersecurity in three semesters, one class at a time, with Saturday-only classes from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Network+ is offered January 17-March 10 and Information Technology Security (CompTIA Security+) is March 20-May 12.
Developmental Studies – multiple pathways now allow students to complete their developmental mathematics sequence and college algebra in two terms. Also a paired class – Developmental Integrated Reading and Writing (DIRW 0413) and Composition I (ENGL 1301) – is available to complete the last reading/writing course in the sequence.
Registration for CTC spring semester classes is open online using the school’s WebAdvisor service. Students can seek academic advisement and complete in-person registration January 3-13 at Student Services (Bldg. 119).
