Central Texas College (CTC) will host Saturday Start on Saturday, June 17 to introduce recent high school graduates to options in higher education. The free event will be from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Anderson Campus Center (Bldg. 156).
During Saturday Start, attendees can meet representatives from various academic departments to learn about the many available courses and programs, meet academic advisers to plan their degree plan and transfer credit options, complete the admissions process, discuss financial aid and obtain information on registering for fall semester classes. Attendees and also explore career and program options including short-term certificates to prepare for in-demand jobs.
“Those who want to attend Saturday Start are under no obligation to attend CTC,” said Bruce Vasbinder, CTC community relations coordinator. “This is a one-stop information session for recent high school graduates who are undecided about college,” said Tonia Griffin, CTC counselor/recruiter. “While those who attend Saturday Start are under no obligation to attend CTC, we want them to know what CTC has to offer, help these recent graduates get a jumpstart on the admissions process and their degree or certificate plan should they decide to begin their college education at CTC.”
In addition, there will be a parent session during the first hour of Saturday Start to inform parents about CTC student service offerings, financial aid options, academics and campus policies. Students and parents will also be treated to tour of the CTC campus and following a free lunch, will be bused to Texas A&M-Central Texas for a tour of that campus. Anyone interested in attending CTC’s Saturday Start should register online at bit.ly/SATSTART17 by June 15 or call the CTC Guidance and Counseling office at 254-526-1409.
