CTC Fine Arts drama production continues

CTC Fine Arts drama production continues

Special to the HHES

The Central Texas College (CTC) Fine Arts Department will present its spring production of the Michael Vukadinovich drama/comedy “Billboard” April 20-22 in the CTC Fine Arts auditorium (Bldg. 112). The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. each night. The production is led by student directors Matt Stanley and Terrence Moon.

“Billboard” has been heralded as a comic exploration of personal and corporate greed. The battle lines are drawn between commercialism and art, fame and love when Andy (played by Kolby Camnpbell), a debt-ridden college graduate, decides to ease the burden of his student loans by getting paid a large sum of money to have a corporate logo tattooed on his forehead. His artist girlfriend, Katelyn (played by Sarah Wiseman), is not impressed and his best friend, Damon (played by Channing Bell), thinks he’s crazy.

Andy’s decision has both tragic and comic consequences as he comes to learn the logo is more than just ink on his skin. But Katelyn, first appalled by the idea, comes to see a very unique artistic opportunity. She sees his body as an example of the extent to which consumerism has permeated our daily lives. When Andy decides to rip up the paycheck and get the tattoo removed, he finds he is faced with an unexpected decision.

Tickets for the CTC production of “Billboard” are $10 each and can be purchased at the door.  The show is intended for mature audiences only. Free child care will be provided for each performance.
