County radio backbone system gets upgrade

Bell County Commissioners met for a special meeting on June 23 for considerations to approve a Medical Plan Provider, Pharmacy Plan Provider, and Dental Plan Provider from Renewals of Requests for the County of Bell Employee Benefits Trust. The minutes were approved from the June 23 meeting on Monday morning at a regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Bell County. The commissioners recessed the Monday meeting to conduct business as County of Bell Employee Benefits Trust. The meeting reconvened as Bell County Commissioners Court and approved the action of County of Bell Employee Benefits Trust to accept proposals for Employee Medical and Pharmacy Benefits Insurance and Employee Dental Benefits Insurance. It was also approved for funding of the Bell County Employee Medical and Pharmacy Benefits Insurance to be Scott & White Health Plan, Base Plan. Ameritas Option 1 Dental Plan Insurance was approved for renewal.
The regular meeting also discussed items on the agenda to include the approval of upgrade and replacement of Bell County Communications Center’s Radio Backbone System to become P25 compliant.
“It is a federal requirement to be P25 compliant. We are putting together a process. We have been trying to get there since 2009. The county’s radio backbone is a critical piece of emergency communications in Bell County,” said Dave Hall, Executive Director, Bell County Communications Center. “We are putting together a system of interoperability to go from one system to another.
The commissioners passed the motion to approve the consideration to authorize the County Auditor to advertise for bids for the Road & Bridge Department for Cold Central Recycling of Asphalt Milling.
Also approved was the considerations for a contract with Oracle America. Inc for an annual cost of $27,360 for ten licenses to Oracle’s Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud Services and also for ten licenses to Oracle’s Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services.
The county commissioners also approved the minutes from the last meeting on June 20. After the regular meeting, commissioners met for a workshop to discuss further items.
