At 07:57 AM, March 1st, 2017, the Harker Heights Police Department received a phone call from a concerned Harker Heights resident that he heard glass breaking and observed an unknown male carrying a television set from a residence in the 3000 block of Oakwood Drive.
According to the citizen, the suspect was a white male, with mustache and beard, approximately 20 years old, wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans. The citizen further stated the suspect laid the television down on the caller’s property. The caller confronted the suspect who told him to “back off”, and then struck him twice, once on the shoulder and again near his collarbone with his fist, before carrying the television to a black Chrysler parked in the driveway of another home several houses away and placing it in the vehicle and drove off.
Officer’s from the Harker Heights Police Department responding to the scene were soon in pursuit of the vehicle as it fled from Fuller Lane onto northbound FM 3481 reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. The suspect turned into a residential area, stopping the black Chrysler on Henrietta Drive, where the suspect fled the vehicle on foot. The suspect jumped over fences in an attempt to escape pursuing Officers from the Harker Heights Police Department, who then were able to arrest and take the suspect into custody by 08:15 AM, 03/01/2017.
The suspect was then transported to Seton Hospital, where he was seen, treated and released for minor injuries sustained from jumping over a fence, and is now booked into the Harker Heights Police Department holding facility.
