2 Bell County entities honored at Commissioners Court

County Commissioners had special recognitions for two Bell County entities: Bell County Historical Commission and Bell County Technical Services Department at Monday’s Commissioner’s Court Meeting.
Bell County Historical Commission was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the Texas Historical Commission (THC) for the year 2015. Kim Kroll, Chair, Bell County Historical Commission (CHC) was presented with the award. THC presents the award each year to CHC’s that document well-rounded programs of preservation and history projects.
Bell County Technical Services Department was sixth place in Top-Ten Ranking in the 2016 Digital Counties Survey. This was a nationwide survey and Bell County was the only county in Texas recognized. This survey recognizes the counties that help save the most tax money through technological and digital efficiencies and services. Adam Ward, Director, Bell County Technical Services Department accepted the award from the commissioners and posed for photographs.
The commissioners approved the ratification and approval of appointment Judge James Lively, Hamilton County and Judge John Firth, Coryell County to the Board of Trustees of Central County Services for additional two-year terms.
The commissioners passed the motion to approve the County Auditor to advertise for proposals for Inmate and Juvenile Medical Services.
The status of the current burn ban was considered and no changes were made.
“Hoping that a new storm will bring in some rain,” said Commissioner Jon Burrows.
Also approved was the considerations for the final plat approval of “Three Creeks Subdivision- Phase II” located in the City of Belton’s ETJ. Final plat approvals in the City of Temple’s ETJ were also approved for “Spurlock’s Arbor Addition” and “Long View Estates”.
Bell County Youth Fair Executive Board was approved to purchase, skid steer loader, cattle tie panels, cattle scales and a rotary harrow from Bingo Reserve Funds. The authorized amount of these purchases totals $105,000.
